The Southern Illinois Salukis women’s basketball team will conclude their regular season on Sunday, traveling to Evansville to face the University of Evansville Purple Aces. The game is scheduled for March 8 at 2 p.m. and will take place at Meeks Family Fieldhouse in Evansville, Indiana.
Southern Illinois enters the matchup with a record of 9-19 overall and 6-13 in conference play. Their most recent game was an 83-64 loss to Belmont, where Jeniah Thompson led the team with 17 points. Alayna Kraus contributed 15 points, while Indya Green added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The Salukis currently lead the all-time series against Evansville, holding a 42-29 advantage. However, Evansville won their earlier meeting this season in Carbondale with a score of 75-70. Southern Illinois last defeated Evansville on February 7, 2025, by a score of 72-69 but has not secured a win in Evansville since December 2022.
Evansville holds a record of 7-23 overall and is 5-14 in conference games. The Purple Aces are on a three-game losing streak following defeats to Drake, Murray State, and Bradley. Their last victory came against UNI on February 21.
