Head coach Kelly Bond-White of the Southern Illinois University women’s basketball team has announced the signing of Indya Green, a forward from Springfield, Missouri. Green, standing at 5-foot-11, joins the team after a season with Georgia Southern, where she played all 34 games and started 31 times during her senior year. She averaged 12.0 points per game and was second in the Sun Belt Conference with 8.8 rebounds per game.

Before her time at Georgia Southern, Green spent two seasons at Missouri State. Head Coach Bond-White remarked on Green’s abilities and contributions, stating, “We could never, and I mean never, box out Indya Green. Her physicality, grit, and most importantly toughness made her a must-have of our recruiting class.”

During her junior year with Missouri State, Green participated in 33 games, starting 32, and averaged 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 26.1 minutes per game. Bond-White is enthusiastic about the signing, highlighting Green’s connection to the Missouri Valley and her research into SIU’s graduate program. “Once we got her and her family on campus, they were blown away, as the campus, university officials, our players, and recruits exceeded their expectations,” said Bond-White.

In the 2023-24 season, Green earned MVC All-Tournament honors, averaging 15.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during the Lady Bears’ championship game run. Bond-White emphasized Green’s versatility as her greatest asset, noting her ability to play across multiple positions, saying, “She has played the small forward through the center position. She can consistently stretch from the 3, she excels on straight line drives, sealing and finishing at the rim, and relentlessly pursuing the rebound on both ends.”
