Southern Illinois University Athletics reported on April 13 that its sports teams are approaching the conclusion of their seasons as the 2025-26 academic year draws to a close. The update highlights recent performances from softball, baseball, golf, and track and field squads.

Softball had a successful week, winning three conference games. The team swept Evansville in a doubleheader with standout performances from Emily Williams, Jordan Stewart, Brooklynn Danielson, Hayden Kurtz, Maleah Blomenkamp, Hailey Lucas, Amanda Knutson, Mikaela Coburn, Sage Grann and others. They also won two out of three games against Drake. Next up is a series against Northern Iowa starting April 17.
Baseball managed one win in four games last week. Key contributors included Kyle Mager with a grand slam against SEMO and Tim Simay who led RBIs during their weekend series at Evansville. The team will host Arkansas State before traveling to Bradley for more conference play.
Track and field swept both men’s and women’s titles at the Cougar Classic while achieving multiple personal-best marks. Their next competition is the Gibson Invitational on April 17-18.
Women’s golf achieved third place at the Jan Weaver Invitational with Calli Smith leading SIU finishers in seventh place; Kayla Sayyalinh and Allie Santos finished in the top-15. The Missouri Valley Conference Championship awaits them starting April 19. Men’s golf placed sixth at Racer Intercollegiate behind Lucas Lasley’s eighth-place finish before finishing fifteenth at Robert Kepler Invitational; Anthony De Schutter tied for thirty-eighth overall in Ohio.
Southern Illinois University Athletics teams participate at the NCAA Division I level according to the official website.
