Southern Illinois University Carbondale announced on March 9 that the Friends of Morris Library and WSIU Radio will hold a large public book, vinyl, and media sale later this month.
The event is set for Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, in the basement of Morris Library. The sale will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. on March 20 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 21. Admission is free both days. Organizers said proceeds from the sale will go toward purchasing materials and supporting the missions of both Morris Library and WSIU Radio.
Items available include hardcover books for $1 each, paperback books for 50 cents each, and vinyl albums for $1 each. Prices may vary for coffee-table books, art and photography books, SIU Press publications, and boxed sets. The sale will also feature a range of vinyl records and CDs spanning genres from classical to classic rock, as well as a wide selection of DVD movies. Only cash and checks will be accepted as payment.
A highlight of the event is the inclusion of numerous books from SIU Press and Trovillion Private Press—a Herrin-based publishing company formerly operated by Hal and Violet De Mars Trovillion. Other offerings include art books, biographies, children’s literature, classics, cookbooks, fiction works, history titles, management guides, mysteries, nonfiction works, political science texts, romance novels, religious books, science volumes, SIU Press Books again noted separately in the announcement—and SIU Carbondale Obelisk yearbooks.
