Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) Sports Rehabilitation is set to host its 8th Annual SIH Coaches Clinic on March 28 at Legends at Walker’s Bluff. The event, aimed at local coaches from various levels, offers a platform for continuing education, hands-on learning, and networking.

The clinic provides four Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs) for teachers who also coach. Generous sponsorships allow attendees to enjoy a complimentary breakfast while engaging with peers to enhance coaching skills and athletic safety.

Keynote speaker Charlie Jones, head girls’ basketball coach at John A. Logan College, will deliver a talk titled “Dreams Do Come True.” Coach Meade Smith and the Southern Illinois University strength and conditioning team will lead a workshop on effective warmups. Brad Brush from SIH will conduct a session on sideline first aid essentials. An expert roundtable discussion featuring Dr. Scott Schonewolf from SIU Healthcare will address sports safety and performance topics.

Sarai Yates, certified athletic trainer and SIH sports medicine coordinator, stated: “This clinic is all about supporting our local coaches and providing them with the knowledge they need to foster safer, stronger sports environments for student-athletes.”
