Illinois State Representative Dave Severin said on March 23 that the Illinois House of Representatives is preparing for a busy week of committee activity ahead of the March 27 deadline to advance House Bills. Severin noted that lawmakers are returning to Springfield and emphasized the importance of this period in the legislative calendar.
The approaching deadline is significant because it determines which bills can continue through the legislative process. Severin said, “House Republicans introduced numerous measures this session to bring down costs for taxpayers, improve public safety, and increase accountability in state government. Now, Majority Party Democrats need to get on board and bring these bills for a vote in committee so we can get Illinois on the best path forward.”
Severin also reminded constituents that his website is funded by the state and campaign-related posts or comments are not allowed due to ethics regulations.
Severin, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois’ 116th House District in 2023 after replacing former state representative David Friess, according to Ballotpedia.
The outcome of this week’s committee meetings will shape which proposals move forward for further debate and potential passage.
