State Representative Dave Severin recognized the contributions of injured soldiers and veterans in observance of Purple Heart Day. Severin, who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 as a Republican representing the 116th District, took over from former state representative David Friess.

“The Purple Heart is awarded to those wounded or killed in service to our nation. Today, we pause to reflect on their courage and sacrifice. Their lives and service to our nation will never be forgotten!” Severin said.

Purple Heart Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces who have been wounded or killed while serving.
