Illinois State Representative Dave Severin marked Illinois Constitution Day by reflecting on the state’s constitutional history. Severin noted, “On this day in 1818, Illinois adopted its first state constitution. Every version since is a reminder of the evolving nature of our government through revision, debate, and civic engagement.”

Severin, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the 116th House District. He succeeded David Friess as the district’s representative.
