Murphysboro High School reported on recent basketball outcomes for both its boys’ and girls’ teams in a series of posts on December 13, 2025. The updates provided scores and highlights from the games.

Murphysboro High School is part of Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186, which serves Jackson County and includes several schools such as Carruthers Elementary School and General John A. Logan Attendance Centre. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs a total of 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770; nearly three-fourths are women. The student body is composed primarily of White students at 69 percent, followed by Black students at nearly sixteen percent and Hispanic students at just over seven percent.
