Murphysboro High School is part of the Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186, which serves Jackson County as well as Harrison County and includes several schools such as Carruthers Elementary School and Murphysboro Middle School. The district enrolled nearly 1,947 students in the 2019-2020 academic year across grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade (source).
