Murphysboro High School announced on its official X account that it is seeking a math teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, alongside sharing other updates and links.

Murphysboro High School is part of Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186, which serves Jackson County and includes several schools such as Carruthers Elementary School and Murphysboro Middle School. The district employs 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770 before pension contributions; approximately three-quarters are women and one-quarter are men. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, there are no teachers in the district with more than ten absences in a school year. The student body is composed of approximately 69 percent White students, nearly 16 percent Black students, just over seven percent Hispanic students, and a small percentage of Asian students.
