The Board of Education of the Johnston City Community Unit School District No. 1 met at a special Board meeting held on July 14, 2025 beginning at 7:34 a.m. at the Unit Office, 1113 Grand Avenue, Johnston City, IL. Vice President Chad Barras called the meeting to order and asked the clerk for the attendance roll call.
ROLL CALL
Present: Jimmy Dean, John Etherton, Patti Martin, Randy McIntosh, John Van, and Chad Barras
Absent: Chris Cullum
Motion made by Jimmy Dean and seconded by John Etherton to employ Brian Chaney as a 5th- 8th Grade Student Support Teacher and Middle School Head Boys’ Basketball Coach, Sydney Billington as the 5th and 6th Grade Extended Season Girls’ Basketball Coach, and Jill Kendrick as a paid Middle School Assistant Softball Coach splitting the stipend 50/50; to accept the resignations of Traci Stroud as District Bookkeeper effective August 22, 2025, Renee Grisham as a Bus Monitor, and Jamie Chiaventone as Sophomore Class Sponsor; and to post the District Bookkeeper, Bus Monitor, and Sophomore Class Sponsor positions.
Voting Aye: Dean, Etherton, Martin, McIntosh, Van, and Barras
Motion Carried.
Motion made by Jimmy Dean and seconded by Randy McIntosh to approve a 5-year lease of a mobile unit for Jefferson Pre-K/Wrap Around Program.
Voting Aye: Dean, Etherton, Martin, McIntosh, Van, and Barras
Motion Carried.
Motion made by Randy McIntosh and seconded by John Van to adjourn the meeting at 8:02 a.m.
