There have been 15,073 confirmed coronavirus cases in Jackson County as of Feb. 10, with 110 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Chicago (551,807 cases) and Cook County (545,985 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago’s death toll from the virus stands at 7,101, while Cook County recorded 6,624 deaths, according to the IDPH.

Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 52,553,574, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 667,696 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.

Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,390,064 were male and 1,552,862 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 17,372, while female deaths stood at 14,423.

Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 19,912 whites, 5,850 African-Americans, 4,490 Hispanics, 1,007 Asians, and 536 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
