The Southern Illinois University men’s golf team is set to participate in the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, beginning February 24 in Henderson, Nevada. The tournament will see the Salukis competing against 15 teams over three days, with each day consisting of an 18-hole round.
The team lineup includes Anthony De Schutter, Lucas Lasley, Leon Heitz, Oliver Ulrich, and Cy Norman. Jan Wdowka and Frank Bellino will compete as individuals. The event takes place at Reflection Bay Golf Club, a course known for its Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. It measures 7,261 yards and is a par-72 layout. Notably, the course has previously hosted the Wendy’s 3Tour Challenge featuring professional golfers such as Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson.
Anthony De Schutter had a strong start to the spring season by tying for third place with a score of 204 (-9) and achieving a low round of 65 (-6). Meanwhile, Cy Norman from Benton, Illinois will be making his debut for the Salukis in this tournament.
