City of Genoa City Council met Jan. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Brust called the meeting of the City Council to order at 6:30pm followed by roll call. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter and Braheny were present. Aldermen Gudeman and Roca were absent. Quorum present.

Mayor Brust led the pledge of allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT – None

OLD BUSINESS – None

CONSENT AGENDA

Alderman Stage made a motion to approve of items 1-3 within the consent agenda, seconded by Alderman Pulley. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter and Braheny voted yes. Motion carried.

1. THE MINUTES FROM THE DECEMBER 17, 2025, CITY COUNCIL MEETING 2. THE ACCOUNTS PAYABLES DATED DECEMBER 31, 2025, TOTALING $320,780.91

3. APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A BILLER ORDER FORM WITH INVOICE CLOUD

NEW BUSINESS:

APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH MARCO TECHNOLOGIES, LLC, NOT TO EXCEED $9,512.80

Alderman Pulley made a motion to approve and authorize the mayor to execute an agreement with Marco Technologies, LLC, seconded by Alderman Stage. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter and Braheny voted yes. Motion carried.

APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH KLUBER ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERING FOR A HVAC FEASABILITY STUDY, NOT TO EXCEED $9,750.00

Alderman Stage made a motion to approve and authorize the mayor to execute an agreement with Kluber Architects and Engineering, seconded by Alderman Winter. There was some discussion on the benefit of spending the money to do a study rather than just doing repairs on the existing HVAC system. Public Works Director Smith and City Administrator Seguss explained that since the repairs will likely cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, the city wants to make sure they are moving forward in the most cost-effective manner. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter and Braheny voted yes. Motion carried.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

FINANCE:

Finance Director Tures let the council know that the audit has begun. She also announced that after her almost 19 years of service to the city she will be retiring with her last day being in March of 2026.

PUBLIC WORKS:

Public Works Director Smith told the council about upcoming projects going to bid within the month such as the wastewater treatment dichlorination system and Willow Glen micro surfacing project. He also announced that they will be meeting with Fehr Graham to kick off the pedestrian bridge project and begin design engineering for the bridge rehab. Additionally, Smith announced that public works employee Joe Flury received the APWA Professional Manager of the Year Award by the Fox Valley Brance. Smith told the council that he was specifically chosen based on his dedication to storm water as well as his ability to work with multiple generations of employees, setting them all up for success in their future endeavors within the city. The Fox Valley Branch of the APWA will also be endorsing Flury for the Chicago Chapter Award.

POLICE:

Chief Hathcoat gave a report on the month of December including reports taken and calls for service as well as an overview of the Operation Christmas event that the police department put on at the end of December. He announced that the annual report for the department will be presented at the first meeting in February. Additionally, he let the council know about an arrest that happened the day prior in which the group Predator Poachers was involved.

ADMINISTRATION:

City Administrator Seguss announced upcoming meetings such as a plan commission meeting and public hearing. She also let the council know that the annual report is running behind but it will be presented within the next month.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – None

Motion to adjourn the meeting of the City Council was made by Alderman Wesner, seconded by Alderman Pulley. Voice vote was taken, all voted yes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:54pm.
