City of Genoa City Council met Feb. 18.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Pro Tem Pulley called the meeting of the City Council to order at 6:34pm followed by roll call. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca were present. Mayor Brust was absent. Quorum present.
Mayor Pro Tem Pulley led the pledge of allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT – None
GUEST SPEAKERS – Canines for Christ came before the council meeting, along with two of their dogs, to tell the council more about their organization. They also presented the police department with a donation of stuffed puppies.
OLD BUSINESS – None
CONSENT AGENDA
Alderman Winter made a motion to approve of items 1-4 within the consent agenda, seconded by Alderman Braheny. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:
AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO EXEUTE TASK ORDER 7A WITH ENGINEERING ENTERPRISES INC. FOR WATERMAIN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING SERVICES, NOT TO EXCEED $41,992
Alderman Wesner made a motion to authorize the mayor to execute task order 7A with Engineering Enterprises Inc, seconded by Alderman Stage. Public Works Director Smith explained that doing this aligns with the 2027 Roadway Resurfacing Project. He further explained that this will help to prevent needing to tear up a brand-new road for streets like N Emmett which has had eight main breaks over the last eight years. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.
POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL REPORT
Chief Hathcoat presented the 2025 Annual Report for the Genoa Police Department.

FINANCE:
Finance Director Tures had no report.
PUBLIC WORKS:
Public Works Director Smith announced that he attended the awards ceremony for Joe Flury for the Fox Valley Branch Professional Manager of the Year for right aways. Additionally, he told the council that they were informed that Flury also won the Chicago Metro Chapter which consists of ten counties throughout the state. They will be endorsing Flury for the National Award in Houston as well. Smith also told the council that the Kingston Wastewater Agreement expires this September, and he has already started conversations with the Village of Kingston in regard to renegotiating that agreement. Finally, he announced that the pedestrian bridge advertisement will be posted, and they expect to receive bids about a month later and then have a recommendation for council to move forward with the bridge rehab.
POLICE:
Chief Hathcoat had no additional report outside of the annual report.
ADMINISTRATION:
City Administrator Seguss let the council know the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce Home and Business Expo is coming up in March and the city will have a booth along with the police department. Additionally, she explained that they have begun the first round of interviews to fill an Accountant/Treasurer position upon Jan’s retirement. They are also looking at outsourcing the position and will be getting proposals from other accounting firms.

Motion to adjourn the meeting of the City Council was made by Alderman Wesner, seconded by Alderman Winter. Voice vote was taken, all voted yes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:21pm.
