Southern Illinois University announced on March 11 that Alayna Kraus has been selected to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) All-MVC Third Team for women’s basketball.
This recognition highlights Kraus’s impact during her first season with the Salukis, as she leads the team in minutes per game, free throw percentage, and points per game. Her averages of 33.9 minutes and an 87.8% free throw rate also place her among the top five in these categories within the MVC.
Kraus began the 2025-26 season with a streak of twelve consecutive double-digit scoring games and has scored more than twenty points in seven contests. Her standout performance came against Illinois State on February 13, when she scored thirty points while shooting over fifty-seven percent from both the field and three-point range. This marks the second consecutive year that a Saluki player has earned a spot on the All-MVC Third Team, following Gift Uchenna’s selection last season. Kraus was also named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team, becoming the first Saluki since 2022 to receive both honors in one season.
The Southern Illinois Salukis women’s basketball team competes at the NCAA Division I level, according to the official website. The program is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and hosts its home games at Banterra Center in Carbondale, Illinois, as reported by the official website.
