Village of De Soto Board of Trustees met Jan. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Eric Schuler called the first monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Absent: Paulette Johnson Jennifer Morgan

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Rachel Alstat, to approve the December expense report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Rachel Alstat, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes; Rachel Alstat – Yes. Motion carried.

Laura Crawford was present on behalf of herself and two other friends to express their concern about their safety while walking their dogs on the walking path at the park. Ms. Crawford and her friends had experienced several incidents involving youth in the summer and fall that made her feel threatened. Ms. Crawford had also witnessed incidents where the youth were tearing up the swings. She also stated that the signs had been torn down on the walking path. Ms. Crawford suggested installing cameras that cover the walking path and replacing the signs. Director of Public Works Danny Vancil said the Village had a camera he would install and the signs would be replaced.

Mr. Vancil reported that the lift station at the park had a pump that needed to be replaced. He estimated the cost would be $3,000.00 to $4000.00.

The next village board meeting will be held Tuesday, January 16 at 7:00 PM at the village hall.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Brian Gleason, to adjourn at 7:35 PM. Motion carried.
