Representative Patrick Windhorst is running for re-election hoping to grab a fourth year of serving his position.

“Thank you to the Illinois Farm Bureau ACTIVATOR for endorsing my re-election!” Windhorst wrote on Facebook.

Windhorst announced his intent to run for re-election in the 117th District last October. This will be a new district for the State Representative who currently serves the 118th District.

Windhorst has made efforts towards legislation that’ll contribute to controlling abortions.

“In just a few short years, the left went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to proudly promoting the killing of full-term babies right before birth,” Windhorst said on his website. “I listened in shock as the Democratic Governor of Virginia went on live radio to advocate for their proposed bill and seemingly defended the killing of a baby with deformities after birth. My heart sank as I looked at pictures of the Empire State Building illuminated in pink lights celebrating the signing of legalized infanticide in New York. It’s time for Illinois to decide who we want to be in the eyes of history and our Creator.”

Before his election to the House of Representatives, Windhorst was the State's Attorney for Massac County. His focus was protecting “the community by putting violent criminals and drug dealers behind bars,” according to his campaign website

He’s also made efforts toward not using the 2021 Illinois Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today Act.

“As a member of the Illinois House Judiciary Criminal Law Committee and as a member of the Illinois House in the 101st General Assembly, I voted against the sweeping package of reforms that make up the SAFE-T Act,” Windhorst said on his website. “Now, I’ve introduced legislation that would repeal the anti-police reforms in the law. This is one step Illinois can take to restore law and order and stem the tide of spiraling crime.”

In April, Windhorst was endorsed by 75 different local officials and leaders in Southern Illinois, including legislators at the state and federal levels.
