Jackson County Finance and Administration Committee met Sept. 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Order (5:00 PM)

Members Present: Ashley, Calandro, Comparato, D. Bost, Erbes, Mueller and Rendleman

Also present: Mitch Burdick, Brandi Williamson, Jennifer Lindsey, Frank Byrd, Liz Hunter, Brian Chapman, Josh Barringer, Maureen Berkowitz, Orval Rowe, Bart Hagston, Allan Karnes, Christine Snyder, Joe Cervantez, Keith Larkin, Gene Basden, Allison Mileur, Celeste Korando, Cheryl Graff, David Mac-Rizzo, Julie Peterson, Kenton Schafer, Richard Turner, Emily Mirabella

Chair's Report

I. 21-6401 FY22 Budget Discussion

Comparato began the meeting by thanking everyone for attending and stating that each department would get the opportunity to answer questions from the Board. Ms. Mirabella kept a running total of budget changes the Board made over the course of the meeting. The Board approved the following changes to the budget: Assessments: add $47,000; Board of Review: add $2,500; Treasurer: add $4,000; County Clerk: add $15,000; State's Attorney: add $35,000; Coroner: cut $14,500.

Discussion to balance the budget once the above changes had been agreed on continued.

Rendleman motioned and D. Bost seconded to adjourn and the motion failed. Comparato continued the discussion to balance the budget. Calandro motioned and D. Bost seconded to move $39,000 from the Transfer out line of the County Board budget to balance the budget. The motion failed by the following vote: Yes (3): D. Bost, Calandro, Comparato No (4): Ashley, Rendleman, Mueller, Erbes

Rendleman motioned and Mueller seconded to leave $100,000 in the transfer out line item to pay the solid waste fund, move $39,000 from the transfer out line item to balance the budget, and move the remaining $161,000 from the transfer out line item to contingency. The motion passed by unanimous vote.

Mueller moved and D. Bost seconded to adjourn, motion carried.
