Southern Illinois University Finance Committee recently issued the following announcement.

The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Morris University Center (MUC) marketing team won three first place graphics awards at the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Region V annual conference held Nov. 8-11 at the University of Illinois-Chicago.

The ACUI Region V conference brought approximately 250 professionals, graduate and undergraduate students from institutions located within Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, as well as neighboring ACUI Region VI.

The graphics contest showcases the exceptional marketing and promotional ideas that have been designed by Region V members. A team of ACUI professionals judge each submission and select winners for each category.

The SIUE winning projects included large scale media for “The Cougar Climb,” a stairwell in the Student Success Center; an egg hunt parodies poster to promote the campus Spring Egg Hunt in the poster category; and for best promotional campaign, “Catch a Cougar,” a promotion that weekly selected a deserving student and MUC staff member, who goes “above and beyond in their job.”

Led by MUC Marketing Director Karen Swanner, the MUC marketing team for the winning projects was comprised of freshman graphic designer Logan Carlson, of Galesburg, junior graphic designer Haley Inyart, of Belleville, senior graphic designer Brandon Long, of Waterloo, sophomore graphic designer and web designer Collin Meyer, of Highland, and freshman graphic designer and marketer Andrew Molinari, of Highland. Former graduate assistant Austin Hinderliter also contributed to the projects.

Founded in 1914, Association of College Unions International (ACUI) is a nonprofit educational organization that brings together college union and student activities professionals from hundreds of schools in seven countries. Its members work on urban and rural campuses, in two-year and four-year institutions, and at large and small schools. They are students and administrators whose mission is to build campus community. ACUI enriches them all through education, advocacy and the delivery of services.
