City of Carbondale Sustainability Commission met July 20.
Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:
1. Roll Call: Mr. Beck called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.
Members Present: Mr. Beck, Mr. Kunath, Ms. Shimada, Mr. Grant
Members Absent: Mr. Thorne
Staff Present: Loren Polley

Minutes: Ms. Shimada set a motion for approval of May 18th, 2017, minutes, 2nd by Mr. Kunath, all in favor.
2. Communications:
Review of the current Status Report of the Former Koppers Wood-Treating Site. Updates should be posted on website. Current reports should be sent to the sustainability email as well.
Old Business: Polystyrene Foam, Plastic bag ban. Relook at Operating Papers and vote. The papers will include membership qualifications and identifications. Get with Sarah Heyer for criteria on business “green spot” awards. Look at alternatives to plastic cups for “Shadow Fest”.
Recommend that the businesses use commemorative cups. Go Solar So Ill are running events.

New Business: Encourage L.E.A.D.S buildings for new buildings being constructed. Try to find more members for the Commission.
