Anyone with a dream who needs a little push is being invited to "The BIG Dream Gathering" on Thursday at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), according to a press release from the school.
The motivational event led by best-selling author Mitch Matthews will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Ballrooms C and D. Registration will begin at 6:15, with the first arrivals receiving free copies of “Ignite,” Matthews’ book.
"The BIG Dream Gathering" is in its 11th year of encouraging thousands of people to launch their dreams, according to the release. Beginning with a keynote address from Matthews, the interactive event will get participants to think about their dreams, clarify them and put them down on paper. Those actions are meant to create a positive, inspirational atmosphere that encourages attendees to follow Matthews' four key steps for setting goals and building plans.

According to the release, past BIG Dream Gatherings have inspired participants to find key mentors, start businesses, do things they’d always dreamed of and generally accomplish their goals.
The event is supported by SIUC, American Family University, the Student Programming Council and the Saluki Cents Financial Literacy Team.
