Southern Illinois University (SIU) Carbondale welcomes SIU families to this year’s Family Carnival, themed “Finding Grey Dawg" and designed especially for families with children.

While the carnival will offer snacks, games, arts and crafts, and more, it’s also meant to be informational, as information tables will be set up throughout with documents on a variety of resources available at SIU and the rest of the region.

Attendees can learn more about health resources, academic support, and recreational and leisure activities.

The Family Carnival is also a great way for parents to meet each other  and let the children play. There also will be clues at each table to help kids piece together the mystery of finding Grey Dawg.

A special surprise will be given to the kids when they find the missing SIU mascot.

The event couldn’t take place without the many campus departments and community organizations that work so hard in setting up the carnival and organizing all of the information presented to parents.

The event is free for the community and will take place 3-5 p.m. Saturday in the university's Student Recreation Center’s West Gymnasium. All children at the carnival must be accompanied by an adult.

More information is available by calling 618-453-7521.
